been a while...

It's been a while since I last posted... work has been really busy and I've been studying every chance I get. I've missed a few things over the past two weeks so I thought I'd bring 'em up now.

My folks came in town two weeks ago on saturday and we had a blast. We took them out to the Eldorado Grill and we all had a really good time. I don't think we've ever *not* had a good time when we've gone there. I had their "Smoking Gun" margaritas all night; probably the most unique drink I've ever had... smokey and very spicy. Pretty interesting watching people's face when they try your drink. It's not an "ohmygodmymouthisonfire" type of spicy, but more of a "my lips feel funny and I feel rather warm" type of spicy. It was great to hang out with jeff, ma, and dad there... Next time we need to make sure Justin, Ali, and the kid are there as well.

Last weekend on St. Patty's day we had a small get together at the house for Kellie's birthday. I still haven't checked the camera for pictures; I'll post these as I get them. A good time was had by all... well, I had a good time any way ;)

Kellie's brother Jerrod came in town for the party, always good to see him. Her brother Joel was going to come into town as well, but forces greater then he intervened (gotta hold onto your cell phone man). Joel will be coming in town this weekend to make up for it ;)

Tonight we are going to this Iron-Chef charity thing with Brad and Erika. It's for the Tenant Resource Center (where Erika works). Should be an interesting start to the night...

any way, thought I'd post an update as to what we've been up to... have fun and take it easy.

Cody and Betsey in town...

Cody and Betsey came in town this weekend for Cody's birthday... We got to do a lot of catching up, played a board game, and basically hung out most of the weekend. On Saturday night we went to dinner at the Eldorado Grill. I really like that place. It can be a little pricey but both the food and the drinks are incredible. Kellie loves their pomaritas (pomegranate margaritas) while Betsey had this drink called "The Smoking Gun" that was awesome; next time we go back, that's what I'm getting :) It was basically a margarita where they used mezcal instead of tequila; but not just any mezcal... while it had a really smoky flavor to it, they had let chilies soak in the bottle until the mezcal was dark red. The end result was a margarita with a very smoky and spicy aftertaste.

I think that three of us at the table had catfish for dinner and we were all very happy with the result. I had blackened catfish that had a chili and pico-de-gallo sauce over it with red beans and rice. I can't remember what everyone else had exactly as they have a large section of the menu dedicated to catfish. Also to note, I had been worried about whether they would have a good vegetarian selection... being a Food Fight restaraunt, I should have known that they would (and they did).

After dinner we hit a few bars in town: the Argus and the Brass Ring. We stopped in the High Noon Saloon (connected to the Brass Ring) to see Nate and Toine (sp?) around bar time... hadn't seen them in a long time. Of course, Cody and I got to talk about geek stuff for most of the weekend; I hope we didn't bore our significant others... Anyway, I hope everyone else had as much fun as I did this weekend ;) Happy Birthday Cody!
