totlol closing it's doors...

I've been a fan of this site for a while, but never linked to it:

Totlol - Video for Kids, Babies, Toddlers, Pre and School Kids, Tweens and Parents

Totlol is a video website designed specifically for children. It is community moderated. It is constantly growing. It is powered by YouTube.

The videos were submitted, screened and rated by parents. The selection is huge and if you like, you can participate too.

They take some of the great kids videos on YouTube, embed them on one site and strip out the ads, comments (usually offensive), and "Related Videos" (sometimes *extremely* unrelated). Just the video. Check it out while you can if you have kids, it's pretty incredible.

Sadly, they will be shutting their doors on July 1 as the (*one*) person that runs the site can't get adequate funding. I am hopeful that someone sees the potential of the site and figures out a way to monetize it...

Been known for awhile now that 4chan hacked Time's "Most Influential Person" list, but didn't expect Time would actually go through with posting the result...

Inside Obama's bank CEOs meeting

oh hell yeah...

Inside Obama's bank CEOs meeting - Eamon Javers - POLITICO.com

But President Barack Obama wasn’t in a mood to hear them out. He stopped the conversation and offered a blunt reminder of the public’s reaction to such explanations. “Be careful how you make those statements, gentlemen. The public isn’t buying that.”

“My administration,” the president added, “is the only thing between you and the pitchforks.”

On February 28th, a team of four Spanish teenage students and their instructor from IES La Bisbal school in Catalonia launched a weather probe they designed and built themselves. Their helium-filled balloon carried a payload of electronics and a camera to take atmospheric measurements and photographs throughout the trip. After getting permission from aviation officials and getting good weather, they released the probe on a trip that took it over 30,000 meters (19 miles) above sea level, through winds gusting up to 100 kph, and temperatures reaching -54C (-65.2F), and traveling 38 kilometers overland in a time of 2 hours and 10 minutes. The Meteotek08 team has collected their images and data on both their blog and flickr page

staple / unstaple

staple / unstaple

It gets more interesting if Bob wants to distribute Alice's content, A. Since he doesn't own the copyright, he probably can't do such distribution legally. Suppose Bob creates an archive file containing both A and B, the latter of which he owns the copyright to. He then runs staple 2 or staple 4 on the archive and publicly distributes it. Bob's friend, Charlie, who doesn't care about copyrights, runs unstaple, brute-forces the key, and recovers both A and B. Alice, however, is stuck. If she wants to prove that Bob is violating the DMCA, she must violate the DMCA herself since the only way for her to verify the contents of the stapled archive is for her to brute-force the key (thereby circumventing Bob's copyright protection mechanism) and recover its entire contents, which includes Bob's copyrighted file, B.

Single-Payer Health Care in Minnesota: Notes From a Community Forum | fresh.mn

He pointed out that the single biggest stimulus we could give to General Motors would be the severe reduction in health costs that single-payer health care would bring. He said that Starbucks spends more money on health care than on coffee beans. And then he basically said that there are plenty of great reasons to make this change and plenty of organizations on board with it, but our political system is the chief barrier.
