So far my favorite book in the series. No punches were pulled and I am grateful for that. At first I absolutely hated certain things that happen in this book. Not because the actions were unbelievable or didn’t make sense within the storyline, but because I’d grown to really like certain characters and didn’t want “bad things” to happen to them. And lots of “bad things” do happen. To everybody. But that seems to be the theme with each of the books so far, right?

This was the book that really sealed it for me that things were happening in the story’s world that were immensely bigger than what was being portrayed, that Martin had only just begun to scratch the surface of what was really going on with the story.

As I’m writing this I’m about a third of the way through A Feast for Crows, book 4 out of a planned 7 in the series. Wow. So far this series has everything I loved about Lord of the Rings when I was a kid, but is written for adults. The story is epic, with the book portraying that even though the scale of the story being told is massive, things are happening in the world that are much larger. Love it.

Clearing out my Goodreads “currently reading” list, this was read a long time ago. Kel and I alternated reading this to the kids and the whole family loved it. A very touching story about “an ordinary kid, with an extraordinary face”, with characters that are very believable. The author does a great job switching perspectives between characters and giving their insight a voice.

Clearing out my Goodreads “currently reading” list, this was read a long time ago. Another that Kel and I switched off reading to the kids. I really enjoyed reading this and looked forward to when it was my turn to read to the kids. Brendan has some really big questions in his life and I thought the book did an excellent job in portraying them.

So yeah, it's been awhile since I lasted posted anything besides gameplays and status updates on what shows we're watching. We've been busy.

I've started studying for CAS Exam 9 (only 2 left!) and have been trying to put in at least three hours a day. Kel is also in school now as she got accepted to a pretty intensive post-baccalaureate program in micro-biology. After trying to get in at least a little us time, even if it's just watching a show together (mind = numb), I haven't had much time for keeping up with posting about what's going on in our lives. And a lot has happened these past few months...

Kel wrote up a post on her blog about most of this, but I'm going to repost here.

Sad news was that we lost another bun, Scamp. We didn't really have him very long, but had still got pretty attached to the poor little guy. We had originally got him as a bond for Scout, but Scout passed rather suddenly a few months ago.

Scamp hurt his foot while trying to chew on a growth on his foot (we think it may have been cancer).

We didn't feel it would be in his best interest to operate as he was so old, but no matter what we tried we couldn't get his foot to heal. I think the stress of it really got to him, as before long he had some sort of neurological problem and was dragging his back legs (never a good sign for a bunny). We had to put him down.

And now for some good news :) If you're reading this, you probably already know what it is as we've announced it on facebook. This little one:

We're currently at about 21 weeks, and tomorrow we go in for an ultrasound and hopefully get to know if we're having a boy or a girl. This was a huge surprise to both Kel and I (AND the girls). A really awesome surprise :)

Thought this would be a quick game due to all the Money on the table, but we both went for Witches and loaded up with Curses… Or I should say *I* got loaded up with curses. Several hands in a row I got almost all action cards, with none of them having Action. At the same time, Kel was able to load me up with curses and it was pretty much a done game. Also one of Kel’s highest scoring games: final score was Kel with 50, and me with 22.
